The multiband Delta Loop antenna by SmarTech consists of 7 elements placed on a single boom: 2 elements for 20 m, 2 elements for 15 m and 3 elements for 10 m in reflector-radiator and reflector-radiator-director configuration.
“The Claw” is optimized to reach the maximum of forward gain and front/back ratio for each band.
The antenna was modeled with the most sophisticated NEC-based softwares, using the integral method of moments MoM (Method Of Moments), and optimized with heuristic algorithms (PSO).
Starting from its numerical model, the antenna has followed the prototype phase through iterative cycles of measurement and optimization, until reaching the convergence between the project characteristics and real performance, verified in situ.
The main structure of the triband Delta Loop is made of excellent quality aluminum and steel parts, dimensioned to work entirely in their respective elastic fields. In this way the structure appears to be elastic and simultaneously very robust.
Unlike structures made of different materials (eg. fiberglass), aluminum systems confer a considerable duration and better response to wind loads. This allows to keep stable the antenna geometry (shape) and avoid sudden changes of impedance, efficiency and performance decay of the whole system.
Three different high dielectric strength (600 kV) gamma matches feed the radiator element of each band.
The upper wires, specifically produced by Smartech Innovations, present excellent abrasion and tear resistance. It’s also highly resistant to UV rays action and chemical attack. As in the wires flow the highest RF currents, the inner conductor is made of 99.999% pure copper and insulated with a special polymer having excellent dielectric characteristics (better than glass).
